Randomly wobble each letter to rest
Hello,
I have a text layer in After Effects. I’m trying to have each letter randomly appear, drop down, wobble, then come to rest. Basically, as each character drops down, reacts to physics a little bit by wobbling, then rest.
I can perform the random appearance (opacity), and the drop (position), but the wobble to stop part (spring action on rotation) is the part I’m not getting.

How are you animating the opacity and position?

Yes, just randomly turning the letters on and dropping them down on the baseline.

I think in order to craft the rotation expression you’d have to know how to detect the triggering event (which I guess might be the end of the position animation), but to do that, we’d have to know exactly how you’re accomplishing that animation.

toolkit for After Effects. It includes just the kind of expression you’re
describing where you can apply spring or elastic motion to your
keyframes (with the touch of a button) and adjust the settling and bouncing time.
