    hey guys,

    i m very new to expressions, so excuse me if ths is a dumb question 😉 i have a precomp with several layers (about 2000 frames long). i put this in my comp and activated time remapping. i added an expression on the time remapping – random (2000), so that i have a random sequence of my precomp. now i want that each frame (of the precomp) lasts, let’s say, 3 frames in my main comp. any ideas? hope that it is understandable and sorry for my bad english.

    thanks

    Something like this should be pretty close:

    numFrames = 3;
    posterizeTime(1/(numFrames*thisComp.frameDuration));
    random(thisComp.duration – numFrames*thisComp.frameDuration)

    I just tried it again with a video clip. For me, it jumps to a random frame and holds the frame for 3 frames, jumps to another random frame, etc. I don’t have a clue as to why it doesn’t work for you.

    yeah, of course, sorry. the problem was that the precomp had a differnt lenght than my main comp. so it works well now, thank you!

    cheers, chris
