    Hello all!

I don’t know if the answer to my question is a potential plug-in or expression… or just a pipe dream, so here goes…

I want to be able to type a word, and then slightly randomize the position of each letter, specifically on the Y axis, giving it a bit more punk look or attitude.

This is a “logo” (using that term loosely) just being built in AE CC for a spec, that’s why I’m not building in PS or AI. Plus, I can type on the letters if I want, which I’m leaning towards.

I’m not necessarily looking to animate the letters, but if that gets me to the end result that’s fine, I can work with that.

Short of typing each letter and manually positioning it, is there a more elegant solution to this?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

    Kevin

    This is actually really simple.

    – Create your text layer
    – Add a position animator
    – Change the Y value of the position animator to however much of a range you want the letters to vary
    – Add a wiggly selector (from the same menu as the animators) and delete the range selector
    – Turn wiggles per second to 0 (otherwise it animates)
    – If you want to see different variations, just change the number in the random seed.

    “|_ (°_0) _|”

    Sincerely,

    George
