I’m authoring a disc that needs a random playback of 80 pieces of video. I’ve been playing with the shuffle and random functions in Scenarist but cant work out which suits my porject best. I dont want any piece repeated during the sequence, and I want the sequence to be fresh every time you select it.

Any suggestions as to which one is best for this? Or a general over-view of the characteristics of the two functions?

No idea but in DVDSP we’d do this with a script.

In that case, you would use Shuffle. Random takes no account of wether a program has previously been played, but Shuffle do. Shuffle will repeat after all programs have been played.

To PGC, containing your 80 pieces of video, set SHUFFLE.
Set parametrs – 80, and you get 80 randomly played chapters.
Note: DVD-plater`s display may inform incorrect values, because player can’t display real time/chapter by this variant of playing
