  • Random Horizontal line when exporting (not interlacing issue)

Posted by Joel Howard on September 26, 2016 at 6:20 pm

When I try to export files from Premiere (2015.3) on my mac pro I often get horizontal lines that will appear randomly, pics below. Sometimes when it happens I can restart Premiere and have it work fine, not always. It happens in both Premiere and Media Encoder. It happens even if I convert XML to Prores files. It happens when exporting .mov or .mp4 files. Sometimes I can see the lines on the project before exporting. It only happens on the Mac pro, on the iMac there are no issues. Thoughts?

    Specs:
    Mac Pro (Trash Can)
    OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Xeon E5
    Memory 64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics AMD FirePro D700 6744 MB

It’s the trash can and its bad, overheating GPUs. Try turning the mercury playback engine to software from the project settings.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I’ll give that a try for a short term fix. We just got the computer a couple months ago from apple, is that a common issue with the Trash can, or could it be a bad card that could be fixed?
    Thanks,

check for video card recall for that particular model. the older video cards have to be recalled.

i had the same problem last week. drove me nuts. my fix was to un-tick “use previews” on my export settings and all was ok.
