Random Frames Flickering In Output / Viewing : Premiere Pro 2
This is even a challenge to explain:
I have a Premiere Pro 1.5 project which is 800×600 and is predominately AVIs of screen captures in TechSmiths Camtasia codec. Project looks good and works fine. Views smooth to the desktop (monitor issue) and Windows Media Encoding looks fine.
I moved the project (actually opened a copy) to Premiere Pro 2 to export Flash FLVs directly. However, before even exporting any files I noticed that playback to the desktop (PP2 monitor window) includes random frames from later and before in the specific clip being played back. This is an issue not only with sequences but with the source material played back in the PP2 source monitor. Very flashy and “clicky”…maybe one bad frame irreguraly every 10, 20 or 30. Occasionaly the footage only updates once every 30 frames. The frames don’t look corrupt…just random and being played sporadicaly at the wrong time.
This can also be seen in FLV and WMV exports from PP2…both high and low data rate and big and small resolutions (800×600/640×480).
The source AVIs play fine in PP1, Windows Media and other viewers. The sequences play without issue in PP1.
Due to the nature of the screen capture codec…I can’t create and intermediate file to encode flash in another app, even an uncompressed one. For quality reasons I have to encode from the original sequence.
The only thing I can think of is some sort of frame rate issue. My sequence/project is keeping time at 29.97 but some of the source clips are 24fps or 20fps. None of the material is interlaced. However, these are the same parameters in PP1.5, where all is fine. And the clips exhibit the problem before being cut into a sequence in PP2, so this would rule out sequence stuff.
As much I as would love fix the issue with PP2, I could also live with a solution to get FLVs directly out of PP1.5. But, I think fixing PP2 is the only hope.
I have also noticed this on 2 different installs of PP2.
ANY ANY IDEAS?
OH, and this is a pressing issue…on a deadline.
