  • Random flying plugin for images?

Posted by Switchcase on May 5, 2006 at 6:15 pm

I’m trying to create an effect on a tight schedule and looking for a plugin to do the repetitive stuff. I’ll have a grid of small images, and I want to animate them flying into place from random locations off screen, at a steadily increasing velocity (similar to a lot of the flyin text presets). Is there a plugin out there that will allow me to take all the images on the grid and fly them into place like that so that I don’t have to tweak out dozens of little animations?

    Hello, and hope this helps

Shatter may be the one you are looking for, you’ll have to create a big image in photoshop, your grid, also you are going to need the same grid in a black and white you can just duplicate the images layer then select it and fill it with black, keep the transparency. the layer could be in the same photoshop document, once you bring it in to ea add shatter to the images (the grid, it is just one layer) also add the black layer of the grid you will use it as the custom shatter map you are going to have to play with the setting for the animation. for the shape on the pulldown menu for custom shatter map select the layer that is black and white. one thing i have not been able to figure out is to animate the explosion backwards what i had to do is once the animation is the way you think u want it put that comp in a new comp and play it backwards. on the timeline at the bottom to the left of the zoom buttons click on the two trialgles the on the strech value type -100 (minus 100)or select the layer and do (command+option+R)

I think if you can also try the plugin:Digital anarchy 3D assistants. A free version is contained in your AE6.5 CD-rom.the “box creator lite” can help you too make a plan, the “cubic distribution light” can help you set random positions.

    Hi,

Adding to the two excelent suggestions, another way would be to use ProAnimator for AE. (www.zaxwerks.com)
Although the plug-in is created to produce and animate 3D objects, if you map your pictures to a couple of rectangles,(respecting the aspect ratio)set the depth to (0), you could then animate your pictures with just a couple of clicks to do what you are after.

I hope this may also help.

    Salut.
    Serge
