I’m not sure whats causing it, but I’m finding at random when I hit play, I get a painful shoot of noise. I have gain filters on the clips, but they have been leveled and it doesn’t happen every time. But I’m wondering whats causing this so I can prevent it.

I have experienced this as well. Not cool when wearing headphones late at night! Not sure how to solve it but so far it only happens at home with out a video i/o. Do you have any cards in your system?

I recommend both of you (if possible) visit the Avid community forums (https://community.avid.com/forums/) and post about your problem there. They would need more information to diagnose the problem, like if the two of you can find common ground in what you’re doing at the time of the event that causes the bug. For example, do you have any audio plugins or strange sound cards?
