Posted by Boo-yah on April 1, 2005 at 12:59 pmIs there any way to make an effect make random values through a whole video clip?, in this case i want brightness to jump up and down through a whole movieclip.

Just apply the Brightness/Contrast filter and add a random expression to the brightness parameter:
random(0,100)
Play with the values to taste.Salut.

Select the Brightness parameter of your effect in the Timeline then Shift+alt+= You will then see some highlighted text in the Timeline. Replace that text with the mentioned expression.
