I was just working on a project wherein it would have been useful and finally remembered this minor issue that has been bothering me for a while now, but that I never bothered to follow up on …

I’ve been using AE since version 3 and, up until the most recent versions, when I did RAM previews I could see the frame-by-frame timecode counting off in the viewer window as each frame rendered. I found that very useful since I sometimes use RAM previews to watch my compositions frame-by-frame for various reasons, rather than to see the resulting real-time playback. Although I never bothered to look into it, as far as I can tell, this feature went away somewhere around CS1 or CS2 … or does anyone know if it was just replaced by some new way of accomplishing the same that I just haven’t found yet?

Yes, it’s not there … there is only something like a reference to the total number of frames that were to be rendered, not an actual timecode count as those frames render.
