  • RAM Limit? How come I don’t have a problem?

Posted by Lu Nelson on November 17, 2006 at 1:51 pm

In reading the latest driver 5.7.3 release notes, I noticed it says that all SD Decklink cards are still limited to 3GB of System RAM —

but I’ve been running a Dual 2GHz G5 with a DL Extreme for more than a year with 4.5 GB RAM…what’s the problem exactly? Or am I taking some kind of performance hit without knowing about it?

Should I downgrade to 3GB? I don’t quite understand the limitation…does it only apply to Mac Pros, because of their new architecture?

I have a decklink extreme card with a Mac Pro and am wondering if there will be an update so the SD card will work with 5 gb of ram. I bought ram that is having to sit on the shelf and want to know if I should sell it or if an update is coming.

When all 5gb is installed i recieve kernal panics in fcp output.
