    Hi all,

i just installed another 2Gb into my dual 1.8 G5…so, i went from 2.5Gb to 4.5Gb…now the machine recognizes the RAM when i go into my system profiler…

however when i boot AE, it show’s only using like 2Gb of the RAM..

shouldn’t it be recognizing my newly installed RAM as well?

    help please???

AE is a 32-bit app..it will only recognise 2GB of RAM. If you flip the 3GB switch (search 3gb switch on the cow) AE will see 3…but never 4, not until it becomes a 64-bit application. The extra RAM will only come in handy when you’ve got alot of programs open at once.

Since you are on a Mac, you will not have that magic /3GB switch, but the rest of what jimmybee said is true. At best AE should use 3GB or something. This has been discussed quite a bit (for Windows systems, anyway), so if you do a search, you wil lfind. Look for a very long-ish and elaborate post by Steve Forde in particular.
