I just recently purchased the new Quad Core system with 4 internal 1.36TB drives. They are raided together as a RAID 5. They appear on my desktop as 1 drive (1 icon). This single drive now holds everything including applications and the media, just in different folders.

Since I’m so used to working off external drives or servers (keeping media separate from programs), I’m not used to this all in one approach. Should I seperate the media into 3 drives and RAID them separately for better performance?

    YES

Never edit from your system drive.

Have one drive for they OS and Applications and then a completely separate RAID for your media storage.
