RAID question
I would like to partition a 500 Gig drive into two 250 Gig sections and set them as a RAID O set.
Would this make sense? Probably not, but thought of checking in with the experts.

Sorry, but this makes NO sense whatsoever. Because a RAID is two or more PHYSICAL drives striped to act as one. So partitioning ONE drive into two parts, then trying to raid that…gets you nothing. In fact, it won’t work…won’t allow you to raid.
Again, you need two or more PHYSICAL drives to make a RAID.

RAID’s increase speed only when using separate drives. So it doesn’t make sense to do what you were saying.

Yes I thought so.
G5s only have two drive bays ( who knows who thought of that brilliant design?) I will need a RAID card and RAID array. So far the second SATA 300 drive is proving to be very fast for editing.
