Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy RAID for FCP

    Hi all,

Wondering if someone can help me out and can confirm some RAID settings for me. Specifically the Sector and Block sizes of my RAID.

The RAID will be used with a stand-alone Final Cut Pro system — Mac Pro Nehalem. I’m using an 8-Drive ProAvio Tower (Mini-SAS) and the RAID card is the RocketRaid 4322.

    I’m assuming that I want:
    256k Block Size
    512b Sector Size

But I’d love it if one of you could either tell me I’m right or set me straight if I’m wrong.

    Thanks.

Sector size is correct. Block size should be at least 256k for a video RAID. If there are options for 512k or 1024k, they may be even better. I’m not sure if block sizes over 256k are available/supported on HFS+, though. I know that larger block sizes are available in some other file systems like xfs.

    Thanks Alan,

I can go bigger, I think up to 1024k. I’ll give that a go.
