I have a RAID drive that keeps developing bad blocks, and even after switching out drives, I continue to get errors. The message I receive from Drive Genius is: “OWC Mercury Pro RAID Media (“media” is the volume’s name) contains to bad blocks. The drive should be backed up and erased as soon as possible.”

    Here’s my current configuration:

OWC Mercury Pro RAID drive (eSata/FW800/USB connections) – Configured as RAID 0
Two Hitachi DeskStar 7K3000 2TB drives.
Sonnet Echo ExpressCard/34 Thunderbolt adapter with Sonnet Tempo SATA ExpressCard/34 Controller Card (using eSata from drive to convert to Thunderbolt connection)
iMac mid-2011 machine with Thunderbolt ports, running most Adobe Premiere and After Effects

I originally had Seagate drives in it back in January, but then put new Hitachi drives in it last month. Its still developing bad blocks though.

    Wes.

Have you tried contacting OWC directly on your issue? I’d do that as a 1st step. Make sure the drives you’re using are compatible with their enclosure.
