Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I had no luck with search results. Will the new version of Premiere for Mac still be largely dependent on CUDA for acceleration or has there been a shift to OpenCL as well? The lack of qualified CUDA cards on for the MacPro is frustrating and Barefeats is showing the 7950 to be a solid performer in Resolve.

    Thanks!

Don’t see it being answered either except in a PR-style post at Tom’s Hardware which promises faster OpenCL GPU acceleration vs. NVidia Cuda – with cheaper AMD cards and better GPU utilization, at that.

They didn’t say what they tested exactly (of course), and there’s no word if all the same stuff is accelerated in OpenCL as in Cuda.

So I am as curious as you are.

One thing seems to be for sure though: OpenCL is getting a very nice boost in the new version.

Will be interesting to see if there’s added support for video cards (6970M anyone?)…
