Racket/Ball impact dynamics and deform
Hello everyone, thank you in advance for any help I can get on the following issue. I have been trying to solve a problem and wanted to hear some opinions/suggestions from you experts about how best to tackle it.
I have to show, preferably in slow motion, the moment of impact between a tennis ball and a racket (Padel racket), showing how both the ball AND the racket deform and then get back to their regular shapes. I know I could do it manually and deform both objects separately with FFDs and “faking” the impact but I would prefer to use dynamics and take advantage of the “time remapping” for the slo-mo. I know the ball should be a soft body and I think its deformation is more straight forward but im having trouble figuring out how to slightly deform the racket inward right where the ball is hitting. I dont want the whole face of the racket going inward but just the area around the ball denting inward a bit before getting back to its regular shape as the ball leaves.
I will post some photos of how it would look like faking it with an FDD so you get an idea of the type of deformation I would need on the racket.
Thanks for any suggestions. I know the meshes are pretty dense but I figure they need to be for this shot.
