  R3D+mov Proxy Import Workflow FCPX 10.4

  I am currently shooting on a DSMC2 Gemini. I recorded 4.5k and 5k clips as .r3d + mov ProRes 422 proxies.

  How do I get FCPX to understand that the files in each clip folder are a master and a proxy? If I can’t do that, how do I just import the RedRaw OR Proxy independently of the other file?

  For those of you not familiar with a card dump from a DSMC2 camera, like normal RED workflow, inside the reel folder it will look like this:

  [A001_1215ML.RDM] > [A001_C001_1215JX.RDC] > A001_C001_1215JX_001.R3D + A001_C001_1215JX_001.mov + A001_C001_1215JX.rtn

  (RDM and RDC are viewable as folders on a Mac)

  UPDATE: There is no way to do this automatically as of 10.4. You can either let FCPX generate proxies or do your edit with the proxy files your camera made and then reconnect them later to the master files (making sure to delete the _001 from every proxy file)
