    Anyone know why sometimes FCP 4.5 HD will quit on startup? I then have to repair permission and trash preferences
    and restart and then it will work. Seems to happen way to much. This is on a macine with about 12 user accounts for a college.
    Its a G5 10.3.8 dual 1.8 2 gig ram.

    Have you tried a fresh install, I seems like that would be a headache if you are dealing with that multiple times through-out the day.

    Is there any anti-virus software running on that machine?

    Yeah, disable the protection; this is a major problem with files that are already so demanding on a system, the anti-virus just makes things worse.
