  • Quicktimes I’m exporting are dual mono- need stereo

Okay. I’ve read the manual and I believe everything I can set to Stereo is set to stereo (see screen grabs below) but my Quicktimes that I export from FCP with current settings are coming out dual mono. Why? And how can I get them to come out with a Stereo mix without having to do QT conversion or go through compressor? My only audio tracks is a stereo mix directly from the audio engineer. Thanks in advance for any help!

Did you check the panning in the timeline?

Everything says stereo…even the Quicktime information…so why do you think it’s dual mono?

Two thing, first of all, you need to discover if the file from sound engineer is a real steep or dual mono (use a correlation meter to discover it). Second, if the file is real stereo, you need to pan pot ch1 to left and ch2 to right.

If they say it’s dual mono, then the files you got back from the audio engineer might be dual mono. Yeah, you’ll have to have that checked.
