Quicktime xd5f codec issue
just imported several dozen .mov clips of unknown origin. When I drag them to my Vegas 12 timeline all I see is audio. 8 tracks of audio for that matter. the video track is missing. These files open with POT player. Do not open in VLC player, or Windows player. They will open in UMPlayer but run erratically.
Other .mov files play just fine. GSpot shows the codec to be xd5f.
What are my solutions. Which version of Quicktime player is preferred for Vegas 12, Vegas 13?
My Quicktime pro is version 7.7.5.
What are my options?

No, only the audio plays.

Ok that’s a problem, Quicktime is the translator for .mov files for Vegas. The trick now is to find something that will edit or transcode the file. Can you upload the file somewhere?

if this link works you should find a short 27MB video clip with video and audio. BTW, these clips play fine with a 3rd party player.. “POT Player”

Ok got the file you can take it down if you like.
Try VLC Media Player 2.0.1
Also I have had success with Replay Media Catcher 4

the file does play on Vegas 12 now, but wo audio. What method did you use to convert it to .mp4?

That version I used Replay Media Catcher and AVS Video Editor also reads the file and can encode it to whatever is needed. Sadly I have been unable to get VLC to transcode the file.
