    hello,

to start off, i don’t really know if this is the right place for this post, but since i don’t really work with anything but after effects, it made most sense to me.

i’m trying to figure out if it’s in any way possible to create a quicktime VR movie that is based on footage rather then a still. If have seen a similar thing a few years ago, but simply have no idea how to get around this.
Let me first explain the project.
Im trying to create a qt vr that the viewer can “scroll” thru as usual.
in this case however, i’d like to have sound and image movement.
say for example that while you’re scrolling thru an interior of a large hall, a person walks by and says something. The idea is that at specific moments in the film there should be something happening which will trigger the viewer to search for that specific happening.(so its not triggered by the user, but has a set timing)

I’ve been playing around with cubic converter and after effects but anything more than a classic still based qt VR doesnt seem to happen. I don’t really know where to start , so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    thanks
    Henk

    HI!

i dont think that that is what i want to do.
I want to create something that has content which moves and makes sound. not really a talent, but more like a graphic animation.
the sound should attract the person viewing/interacting . in other words, i hear a sound and i as a viewer, decide to pan/scroll my view towards the sound. I could also choose to ignore it tho.
To me the easiest way to describe it would be a quicktime VR film which instead of a on still image is based on a footage loop.

Possibly this could be a flash or 3d thing, but i wouldnt know. So if anyone could point me the right direction, or has an idea how to do it in after effects?

or am i completely overlooking something?
    Thanks again!

Aha! thanks, that’s at least something:-)
since i have no experience what so ever in the field of game design or interaction,
do you or any know where could be a good start?
ill happily start googling but not having any experience might make it very difficult.
    and once again…
    many thanks!!

As Dave mentioned, AE will not help you, and you’re really looking for a game engine.

Blender has a free, open-source engine you could investigate.
    https://www.blender.org/

Unity is another engine to look into. It’s got a web browser plugin and an iPhone development system.

Finally, you could probably do it with Flash, PaperVision 3D, and a lot of work, but this is the direction that Adobe seems to be taking Director in.
