quicktime to avi mpeg streamclip delivers black screen – what gives?
i just tried to convert a quicktime (768 x 576, 25fps, h.264, no audio) to an avi file using mpeg streamclip for playback on a windows machine. i used the exact same settings (including h.264 codec) for the avi export, and what i got was a slightly bigger file with a black screen ()in quicktime, it was white in mpeg streamclip). can anyone tell me why this is happening and what would be the best bet for encoding a .mov to .avi with the likely chance that it would play on a windows machine?
This was done in a pinch for a friend for her exhibition (like, an hour before) and know nothing about this windows machine and it’s playback capabilities, let’s assume default windows…
i did this on my old macbook (2.0 ghz, 1g ram), i have mpeg streamclip 1.9.2 and perian, which might be outdated…can’t figure out how to see what version it is.
thanks for any advice!
