So i rendered out a video in Final Cut from After Effects thats in 720 HD, whenever i try and play it in quick time, or in powerpoint it stutters and skips because it cant handle it i guess. Im doing a presentation for an awards banquet and i planned on playing it through the computer onto an lcd but now i dont think i can if this keeps up, HD dvd’s are out of the question, what should i do to fix this?

Since you’ll be hooking up the LCD as an external monitor, try playing straight from Final Cut using Desktop Cinema Preview – Full Screen. This setting will show the full screen video on your second monitor. The bad news is that it’s not full resolution, but about half. HD stuff usually still looks pretty good when you do this, but not as sharp as you’d be used to seeing on an external HD monitor. The good news is that it shouldn’t skip.

What codec are you using? Certain codecs like Animation or Uncompressed 4:2:2 are just too large to cache into RAM and end up stuttering. As much as it sucks to compress beautiful HD footage, it might be necessary. Try compressing it to ProRes(HQ) and see if that helps.
