    Hi,

even when I have “make move self-contained” unchecked, FCP 5.0 is exporting regular full size quicktimes, instead of reference movies which I want.

Any thoughts on why this might be happening?

    thanks,

    Ari

How do you mean it’s exporting a regular full sized QuickTime? Make sure everything is rendered before you do the export.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Thanks Tom,

by full size I mean in regards to hard drive space, not pixel ratio.

I looked in the archives and this seems to be a somewhat common problem. I am using FCP 5.0, QT 7.02, and OS 10.3.9.

I rendered everything just in case, but I have applied no FX.

    thanks,

    Ari

Give me an example with frame size, codec and length. Remember the audio is always hard (or self contained) media in the quicktime, not just a reference. If you have really long exports, your media file could seem big.
