    Hi There.

Just a thought, but maybe someone can expand on it.

When you export a quicktime movie from FCP (non conversion export), I notice it has a different icon in finder, and opens via FCP when clicked on.

What is “special”, about this reference movie compared to a standalone quicktime conversion movie , which has the normal quicktime icon?

    Thanks

I think it just generates the Icon because it came from FCP.

You can change which program opens it by right clicking and selecting OPEN WITH>quicktime player.

There is no quality diferenc in the movie if it comes from FCP.

Is it possible for this FCP reference movie to embed the info of the sequence it came from, so that when it is opened, the original cuts will be there on the timeline?

    cheers

No. For this you must export an EDL, a XML or an AAF if you have automatic duck.

The FCP quicktime movie will only embbed a video track, audio tracks and a timecode track.
