Somehow had 7.5.5 Quicktime loaded on our Mac G5 quad OS 10.4.11 (tiger) running Avid MC 3.0.1. When we tried to output to an external DVD deck, everything was in Black & White. Avid support instructed us to an Avid website to download Quicktime 7.4.5 We kept getting warnings that a newer version of Quicktime was loaded on our computer and that we must be running OS 10.5 to download QT 7.4.5. Avid tech said it never happened before.
Looking for a sure fire way to completely remove Quicktime off our computer… download Quicktime 7.3 and hope for the best. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Basic troubleshooting….
Do you see color on your computer monitor? I bet you do.
Do you see color on your Mojo output? I bet you don’t.

Did you check the output settings? Is that set to component and are you going out composit to your DVD recorder? I think so…
So you’re recording the Y signal. Switch to composit and all will be fine.

    What Bouke says.

Also: you don’t want QT 7.3 for MC 3.0.1. You want QT 7.4.5.

Yes on the color in the monitor and then Mojo output B & W.
I am going from the Avid S-video into an external DVD burner… and getting B&W.
Composite will not give me the S-Video out which I prefer. Thanks.

Yes, I agree… thats what avid told me. However, everytime I tried to download the QT 7.4.5 onto my tiger OS (10.4.11) with Avid MC 3.0.1.
i would get warnings, “A later version of Quicktime exists on your HD” and then the puzzling one. “Quicktime 7.4.5 cannot be downloaded to your disk volume. QT 7.4.5 requires OS system 10.5(leopard)

This is very confusing. Thought we trashed everything to do with Quicktime in order to download the QT 7.4.5
Any ideas of the most sure-fire way to make sure Quicktime is completely off of our system in order to start with a new QT version from scratch?

Like I said Avid techs were also confused that the warning we received stated that we needed to load OS 10.5 for QT 7.4.5. We do not want to deal with OS 10.5.

    Thanks for the help.

But you have double checked that your Video Output settings are set for S-Video? If it’s set to Composite it will give you B/W, I believe.

Double check your video output. Most likely it’s set wrong, or you have a bad S-Video cable.
