Posted by Mark Palmos on January 25, 2011 at 12:00 am

    Hello guys,

I seem to remember being able to run quicktime pro as an app. When I spotlight for Quicktime, I only get Quicktime Player as an app… very odd.

Any ideas how to rectify that?
Ive tried re-installing quicktime, but it says It cannot, Quicktime X is installed (??)

    Thanks,
    Mark.

If on Snow Leopard and you do in fact have QT 7 installed, it is called Quicktime Player.

QuickTime X is not ready for prime time quite yet.

    Mark,

You have to install QT 7 from the Snow Leopard disk. Here are Apple’s instructions:

To install the QuickTime Player 7 from the Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD:

Insert your Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Install DVD.
Open the Optional Installs folder and double-click “Optional Installs.mpkg”.
Select the QuickTime 7 option and click Continue.
QuickTime Player 7 will be installed in your Utilities folder.
