I used to make my own custom QuickTime skins in QuickTime 6. I was following a tutorial from the book “Photoshop CS for none linear editors” (tutorial 11 on DVD rom). However, this can no longer be done in QuickTime 7 Pro as the feature has been removed from the previous version.

What you could do before was select a track by hitting Command J to bring up movie prefs then selecting Video Track 2 from the left and Layers from the right, then hitting the up key until it changes from -1 to 2. You could then hit Command J again and select Video Track from left and Size from the right, then hit Move.

Anyway, there appears to be no way of doing this anymore. So I can’t make QuickTime skins anymore, what a bummer, or am I just missing something.

Anyway. How can I get QuickTime 6 back on my Tiger loaded Mac?

    Cheers.

It is still possible. Go to the quicktime website and look for the skin tutorial.

If this is QuickTime 7 Pro from an upgrade then you have probably been downgraded to QuickTime 7 Player from QuickTime 6.5 Pro.

You will have to pony-up $29.95 to register it as Pro or wait until you can get a QT Pro version from FCP 5.

    HTH,

    Don’t worry Mr. B. I have a cunning plan…

    PowerBook 1.67 Ghz ATI 9700 128 MB 2 GB
    Final Cut Pro HD
    DVD Studio Pro 3
    Motion

    Hi,

    I think this will work:
You can stay with QT6. Download the last installer for QT6 from Apple.

First, Move Quicktime 7 out of the App folder. Put it on the desktop.

Now, install the QT6 from Apple you just downloaded. Once installed, rename it something so that you know it is QT6.

Put new quicktime back in the App folder.

Launch the QT6 and enter your QT6 serial number. Now you have QT6 pro.

    Best Wishes,

    Mitch
