I had this problem and all i had to do was change the folder attributes of my APPDATA folder from hidden to not hidden. then PP and AE and everything else seems to work fine now! as for the WHY it worked, i think it had something to do with PP and AE not being able to find QT, so Im guessing it is because the folder it was looking for was hidden. Sometimes a virus will do that…change folder attributes.
