I am needing to get a QT output from a producer who has the required sequence in FCP on her computer. What settings can I suggest for her to use to get the best QT output for importing into Avid Media Composer ver 5?
I don’t have FCP myself (I’m an Avid user), so am unaware of the correct procedure to output from FCP a QT that would work with Avid.
We tried outputing a QT reference file with all the media transferred to an external drive, but the file failed to play.
    Any help gladly received.
    Cheers, Stu.

Avid v5 will play Apple ProRes files via AMA. Make these self contained…do not use reference files.

Another option is to download the Avid Quicktime codec from Avid’s website. Install that on your system. Export a reference file from FCP, then take that into Compressor, where you can transcode into an Avid DNX HD Quicktime file. You will need to create your own preset, as installing the codec does not create one for you.
