quicktime not supported
I exported a self-contained quicktime movie from final cut pro on my powermac G5. I watched it yesterday and it worked fine so I transferred it to my macbook pro. When I tried opening the quicktime on my macbook I get an error message along the lines of “this file format is not supported.” Quicktime on both computers is 7.5.5 and the movie is Uncompressed 10-Bit 4:2:2. Please help, is there any way to download new codecs for use in Quicktime?

Sounds like you’ve used a codec that’s installed with FCP.
Look at the Macintosh HD>Library>Quicktime> folders on both machines to see the differences.

Sometimes. It depends on the codec. Frequently the only proper way is to install an app that includes the codec. In this case, FCP. In other cases, the codec is available seperately (ProRes) or as an add-on (MPEG0). And I believe you can copy the codec file in the library from one machine to another, but I’m not certain about that.
