Quicktime not installed when trying to open 720p H.264 AAC file :(
Posted by Shawn Steele on May 9, 2015 at 10:21 pmPretty sure I could open mov’s a little bit ago, but it doesn’t like this one. Maybe I could transcode to a different container?

May 9, 2015 at 11:10 pmVegas does special case some MOV file contents and use its own internal decoders. AVC/H.264 video and PCM audio is the case I know about. Your problem file is AAC audio.
You can remux the AVC video and AAC audio into an MP4 file. Vegas will open that combo directly. I know because that is what my GoPro outputs. My DSLR is AVC+PCM in MOV and Vegas opens directly.
If the media is listed in Project media you can…
Right click the media and choose properties. Select the “general” tab and scroll to the bottom.qt7plug…Vegas needs Quicktime installed.
compoundplug…Vegas uses its own internal decoder(s). -

May 10, 2015 at 1:37 pmIs it just this one MOV file or can you not open any MOV files? If the latter, what changed about your system since you said you could open them before. Can you open it in the QuickTime player? If the QuickTime player can’t open it, Vegas Pro won’t be able to either.

May 10, 2015 at 4:02 pmI think it’s the content in the container (or the combination). According to the previous reply, likely the AAC. I haven’t had a chance to find a way to transcode to a different container.
