  • Quicktime intermediate codec- lossless?

I assume it should be, and it looks to be, only thing is it says ‘medium’quality in the summary info before you export in QT…

I’ve searched the web and can’t find much info regarding the codec, can someone confirm for me or point me in the right direction? I can’t notice the difference, but if after 3-4 generations you start to lose quality, then i can’t use it…
    thx again.

    It’s lossy. It’s a hack for HDV.

For a real intermediate, I think you have a couple of choices – uncompressed or photoJPEG75% which is awesome and slightly (not visibly) lossy.

thx Graeme, I didn’t notice a diff, but will use uncompressed from now on….

would actually prefer to use TIF but for some reason FCP5 won’t take Tiffs rendered out of shake for some reason
