Quicktime import “Codec Missing” error message
Hello:
I’m currently getting an error message that reads “Codec Missing/Unavailable” when I try to import Quicktime files from FCP into Premiere CS5. The files were XDCAM EX files and I believe they were exported as such. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Bart,
Premiere doesn’t support all Quicktime files. XDCam EX wrapped in QT is not supported either. Do you have access to the originals, that’s your best bet, other than having someone on a Mac converting them all to something else like Animation or Motion Jpeg.

I think if QuickTime supported the codec without FCP, Premiere Pro would read it. Most of these limitations are actually QuickTime-borne…
