I have recently uploaded two QuickTime movie files encoded using H.264 to a website located at: https://www.espaffair.com/video/

I use a similar interface to Apple’s own Movie Trailer site, where clicking on a “480p” button launches the QuickTime movie in a standalone player.

My question is this: I have found that when I add metadata to the movie files (i.e. copyright, title, etc.) the files take FOREVER to load (totally unacceptable), however, when I leave out all metadata, the files load up right away.

This is particularly puzzling, because the trailers on Apple’s own site usually contain about four fields of metadata. Surely, there must be a way for my files to contain the appropriate metadata and still load just as quickly as we’re all accustomed to.

Any advice you can offer is very much appreciated – thanks!

Sounds like the file header needs to be compressed to allow progressive downloading. Open the file in QT and save it with a new name to compress the file header.
