If the internal SATA won’t play it, I doubt severely a single SCSI will. You need a RAID of somekind. Did you try PhotoJPEG75% codec. It’s excellent and much lower in data rate.

The frame size he’s using is about the same height as PAL DV, but three times as wide, so with a PhotoJPEG codec, any RAID that can play 3 DV streams should handle one stream of this, or for uncompressed, any RAID that would handle three uncompressed streams should be fine, say, 100MB/s, which is certainly doable without going to fibre, which here is giving about 300MB/s playbacks.

thanks for your help on this one – photojpeg seems to be working fine on the small test ive done, the real test will be when i try it on a full length piece – typcially 4-5min. when you say photo jpeg 75 – are you refering to setting the quality slider to 75%?

I also noticed graeme from your QT demo’s of your excellent plugins that you are an englishman – in the words of Sting – living in New york? LA perhaps.

Yes, quality setting at 75%. At that setting it’s a y’CbCr codec, 4:2:2 low compression. At 100% it changes to an RGB 4:4:4 codec with low compression.
