Quicktime export is different than what’s in the timeline
I’m editing a demo reel for an actor friend. One of the scenes is from a television show, but the scene she’s in is not with any of the shows more recognizable stars, so I wanted to put a little bit of the title sequence/music in front of it to make sure people knew what show it was. So I put about 3 seconds worth of it in. It looks great in the sequence, in Final Cut, but when I do an export to quicktime (broadband medium) that title sequence is slightly askew… instead of the 3 second chunk that’s clearly in the timeline, it’s a 3-second chunk about 10 seconds prior to what is in the sequence. Everything else in the sequence is fine. This is driving me insane. In all the years I’ve been using Final Cut, I’ve never had anything like this happen. Shouldn’t Quicktime export be exporting EXACTLY what I’m seeing in the timeline?
The title sequence was ripped from a (non-copy protected) DVD-R of the show. The scene from the show was not ripped from the same DVD, it was taken from an exisiting demo reel, so it looks fine. It’s just the few seconds of the title sequence that got threw off.
Oh, I just upgraded to Studio 2, if that makes a difference.
