    Hi,
Anyone who can resolve this is my new hero!!!LOL

I’ve rendered a scene as a quicktime movie (about 11 secs) and my system crashed just after the last frame finished (ughh). When I try to open the file in quicktime I get a message saying “quicktime cannot open, not a quicktime file”). There seems to be info there, but something is missing. (Sometimes you get a corrupt file that is 0 kb, but this is actually approx the right size – 250mb or so) Any amazing solutions to get this thing open…..I’m trying to avoid the 4 hour render again.

    Thanks,
    Mike

It might be possible with a good enough understanding of the QT file format and a hex editor but it would likely take a lot more than 4 hours to learn it.

For what it’s worth (after the disaster) it’s safer to do long renders as still frames and assemble those into an anim after. Then if something happens – crash, power failure, whatever – you can only lose the last frame rendered.

Totally agree brian, frame sequences are by far the safest investment in render time.

    Thanks guys.
Yeah It’s probably worth the extra step of assembling the sequence.
