Quicktime codec?
Does a person on the receiving end of QT file have to have the same codec that was used to compress the file?
I have a lot of choices which come up for QT codecs. I am experimenting with which is best. -

They should at least have a player version equal to or more than the version used to encode then they are ensured to have the proper stuff to decode.

Yes.

Best for what purpose? Answering that will help narrow down which codecs to examine.

I am sending a QT file to someone on a CD. I want to choose the codec which will give me the best quality for a 7 min video at 720 x 540 and can fit on a CD and will be able to be decoded by an average to above average computer.
