QuickTime 7.6.2 just came out and it includes changes that increase reliability, improve compatibility and enhance security.

Improves compatibility with Apple ProRes media

    Improves support for iTunes 8.2

Does anyone know if it’s recommended for the Media 100 yet?

    Hi Harry,

We ran with it all day today and didn’t see any problems. We also haven’t had a sudden rash of support cases so…

We’re not quite ready to give it the official blessing yet, but it seems to be harmless thus far.

I suppose the one good thing that came out of the QT 7.5.5 mess is that we all know how to back up QT if we need to.

I just installed QuickTime 7.6.2 and now cannot open Media 100 13.0.1 at all (Intel Mac Quad Core, 10.5.7, 8GB RAM)

Message is Media 100 encountered a disk I/O error (op code: 8, err code: -39).

Checking into whether 13.0.3 will fix error, if not will do the remove QuickTime process.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Robin

    Hi Robin,

I’d be VERY surprised if your problem turns out to be some sort of incompatibility.

Those errors are Mac errors that directly point to a problem reading from disk. It’s vague, but usually ends up being some sort of corruption, either the media itself or the formatting of the drive.

Try isolating the drive(s) or the file(s) as the problem.

Will do, and will post results.
    Many thanks Wick!

Confirmation of Wick’s suggestion that my problem was a corrupt file, not a QuickTime conflickt. File removed, Media 100 13.0.3 with QuickTime 7.6.2 smooth and groovin’.
    Thanks again.
    Cheers,
    Robin
