Do you have chapters for this media?

Are you sure you’ve upgraded to 7.1.6? I upgraded on my macbook as a test, but not on my desktop. I checked QT on my desktop and the property menu in your screen grab looks like 7.1.5.

No chapters. It’s media directly from tape capture.

    Tom,
It seems to work on HDV, but not on DV and it seems DVCPro 50 as well. When I opened a DV clip I got the same TC track options you got. Open HDV and you get the extra options in the TC track. I wonder if it’s a bug?

    Open original clip in QT

    Apple+J

Select the timecode track and hit extract

This extracts the timecode to a new file without deleting it from the original source.

Change the selector markers on the timeline of the timecode only file to select the entire clip.

    Select Edit-Copy

Open and select the new movie.

    Select Edit-Add to movie.

    That works for me.

That just seems it add the track after the movie, and not as an additional track to the existing movie.

    All the best,

    Dumb question:
What is the minimum version of QT will people need to view files made with QT 7.1.6.

In other words, if I upgrade, will my clients and co-workers also have to upgrade [from QT 7.1] in order to view my clips, [even WITHOUT the new time-code feature.]

    Thanks,

    Wayne

It would make sense for Apple to build this feature into Quicktime for PC since their new FCP Server has a Windows client.

    Lee,

I upgraded and I cannot find a timecode track.
