May 2, 2007 at 11:05 amI am not seeing this. How are you getting this strip at the top of the window, and at the top of which window, the viewer or the properties window?
I have the extract function, which will make the TC a separate file (would be nice if there was such a function from the FCP timeline window), but I don’t think that’s what you mean.
All the best,
Tom

May 2, 2007 at 11:19 am[Shane Ross] “Quite useless for those of us who send out this stuff out for Client review.”
You can find a “sweet spot” within FCP for exporting for client review and this should get better with the release of FCP 6. When using SyncVUE to review projects with clients, I always had to export from FCP’s timelines. It worked out fine. Not as much control as Compressor, but it worked fine.

May 2, 2007 at 1:05 pmTom,
Did you select the check box for the Timecode Track in the Visual Setting Tab? -

May 2, 2007 at 2:18 pmWouldn’t it be good if you could assign TC to clips?
imagine outsourced shots/graphics coming back with a timecode reference to be resynced in FCP to…

May 2, 2007 at 2:54 pmI’m not seeing what you’re seeing.
If I select the timecode track in the properties window, there is no tab for Visual Settings.
If I select the video track, there is a tab for Visual Settings, but I see no checkbox for Timecode in there.
All the best,
Tom

May 2, 2007 at 4:45 pmYou can extract the timecode from the original clip and add it to another movie using QT pro. That could be pretty helpful.

May 2, 2007 at 4:49 pmHere is a screen grab that I hope will help.

You’ll notice that I scaled the space where the TC text is displayed. When I first applied the track, It cut off the bottom of the text. The text updates as you play the movie.

May 2, 2007 at 5:01 pmCould you describe the procedure to do this? I get how to extract it, but I can’t seem to figure how to add it into another QT file.
All the best,
Tom

May 2, 2007 at 5:14 pmIf I select the Video track in properties I see this:
https://fcpbook.com/VideoTrack.jpg
On check box for timecode. Adjusting the track height and width makes no difference. I’ve tried it with various material. DV, DVCPRO HD and HDV.
If I select the Timecode track in properties I see this:
https://fcpbook.com/TCtrack.jpg
There is no visual tab to select.
