Quicktime 7.1.3 import flash problem

October 5, 2006 at 11:01 amHi guys
I happen to do a lot of importing into AE of swf files. And I also run the Windows XP version of iTunes. Recently, having got sick of the messages asking if i wanted to update iTunes, i updated. There’s some bug in QT 7.1.3 which now prevents After Effects importing flash files.
Maybe I just got unlucky, maybe my PC is set up in a unique way, but I wanted to warn others thinking of updating, that they may need to uninstall then trawl through the Apple website to find the older versions of QT.
Taking no chances, I now have QT 6.5 working fine. My colleague is using 7.0.3 with no problems either,

October 5, 2006 at 12:58 pmYou have to turn on the appropriate preferences in QT 7.1.3 to watch flash through quicktime. See this doc:

October 6, 2006 at 8:31 amGrrrr, genius. Thans for sending me the link. Any idea why Apple would choose to disable that functionality?
That’s it, i’m ranting for the rest of the day now.

October 6, 2006 at 7:45 pmAnother apple doc pretty much sums it up. The version of Flash currently shipping with QT is old.
