Quicktime 10 – Good way to compress for web?
Hi guys,
I’m trying to work out whether saving my vids as HD 1080 files from within Quicktime 10 will give me good web results (highest image quality for lowest file size).
My specs:
Macbook Pro
Mac OS X 10.6.6
2.6 GHZ
4gb Ram
Final Cut Pro 7.0
Quicktime 10.0So, I have a 1 minute clip with sequence settings as Apple Pro Res LT (1920×1080)
I usually just export that to Quicktime without compression from FCP.
I then save that file as 1080p HD from within Quicktime 10.0. It compresses using h.264 at 10 Mbit/s.
I’m usually happy with the results – good quality and low file size. But I’ve been told it’s not the best way to compress for YouTube and Vimeo playback.
Any thoughts on a better process?
Cheers,
Tom
