I do a lot of outputs and quality control of 23+ minute long episodes. This means if I catch an error — let’s say a very quick video mistake like a flash frame — I need to re-export the whole sequence, costing another half hour to output.

We’re curious if there is a software or clever way to quickly “overlay” a frame into an existing MOV file at a specific time to fix problems like that without the need to output the whole sequence again. I suppose this isn’t an AVID specific question, but that is the software we cut on.

I’m not super hopeful on this, since I imagine if there was a reliable way to do this, it would be common knowledge, but figured I’d ask.

    Thanks!

Cine X has an exact solution for this, I use it all the time. It’s amazing.

This will do the same, and is free. (But relies on Quicktime to be present, and is 32 bits, so it won’t run on Catalina or later.)

Checkout Shutter Encoder. Runs on Intel and M1. It’s free and works on many OSs. I’ve used it for a few years.
