  • Quick way to switch between sequences?

    Hi Everyone,

Is there a quick way to switch between a couple of sequences? I’m match framing a lot from a previous edit for my new cut. Right now I’m clicking on the sequence name above the record monitor to switch between sequences.

It’d be nice to be able to switch with a keystroke, like you can alt-tab applications.

Any way to do something like that?

    THanks

Just Double-click the Sequence in the Bin. Will automatically load into your record monitor. Doesn’t get much quicker than that.

Yeah, I know that. But that’s no faster than selecting it from the menu.

Using the mouse slows things down, when most of what I do is keyboard shortcuts. If there was an alt-tab style solution it would be way faster when I’m switching back an forth constantly.

I think the short answer is no, not in the way you’d like to switch between them. But you can load the old sequence into the source window, sync it with your current sequence and switch between them in the timeline. Also, when I’ve needed to reference a previous edit I sometimes create an extra video and audio tracks and lay the older sequence into my timeline. A bit painful, but perhaps oen of the two solutions will help.

You can use multiple source windows. There is a setting somewhere (“Double click source opens new window”, or something to that effect). I haven’t used it in years, might be in the timeline setting? Otherwise, David’s suggestion is pretty good.
