Quick Time import problem
Posted by Paulo Mateus on August 22, 2005 at 9:14 amI tried to import a quick time mov, made with Avid Express Pro 5 HD, to FCP 4 Pro but that file plays with serious problems, very slow and with a bad quality. I did many mov files from that project, with many different codecs (Sorenson 3, MPEG4, DV Pal, etc

August 22, 2005 at 10:49 amSo reading your first post AGAIN (how did I miss this?) you try to export from Avid a quicktime movie in the DV/PAL format and you still get errors? Hmmm. Not sure then…

August 22, 2005 at 11:16 amI’m not clear on what you want to do.
Are you are trying to import and edit a full quality, full frame DV QuickTime movie?
If so, you do not want to use any “extra” compression codec when you export from Avid Express.
You should export a QT movie in “DV” (PAL or NTSC depending on where you are) from the Avid Express.
If you are putting the QT file on removable media, make sure the QT is “self-contained”).
This full-sized QT should import perfectly into FCP.You will probably need to RENDER it for it to play.
