  Quick shortcut question

  Hello to all,

  I’m currently working through a good amount of broll and I curious if there is a faster way to edit than the way I am. I used to edit a different way with FCP7 but with PPCS6 this is what I’m doing…

  -Laying all Broll in the timeline so that I can watch everything.
  -I have added shortcuts in to allow “W” to be used for RIPPLE TRIM PREVIOUS EDIT TO PLAYHEAD and “R” to be used for RIPPLE TRIM NEXT EDIT TO PLAYHEAD.
  -Then I use this shortcuts to cut out the bad stuff so that I can only keep the good and then go back and grab what I need.

  I don’t love subclips, I’ve always preferred this way. I’m sure that using the Browser could work, but I’d love to see how to make this way faster.

  ***My question is, is there a shortcut to “SELECT CLIP ON PLAYHEAD”? Or something like that. I Love “W” on trimming to previous edit (because I’ve already seen that footage and I don’t need it), but I don’t want to use “R” to trim to next edit because these are long clips and I don’t know if there will be another nugget within the same clip. So what I do is CMD+K to add edit, then I have to lasso the bad clip and manually do a SHIFT+DELETE to ripple delete.

  Again, I’m sure using IN & OUTS in the large thumbnails and doing an overwrite edit into a timeline would be a good choice…I’m just curious if there is a shortcut that I might be missing.
